Mother's Day Buttress
Great climbing up this eye-catching buttress on Cascade Mountain (Known as “Minihapa” by the local Stoney Nakoda peoples) near Banff! Eight fun pitches of moderate rock lead up the buttress just right of an impressive slot canyon. From the top we traverse the slopes above Cascade Falls and then scramble down through easier cliffs with one rappel to the bottom. This climb makes a good first multipitch climb for those who don’t mind some scrambling through rugged terrain on the approach and descent.
Location: Banff, AB. 10 minutes from Canmore.
Difficulty: 5.6
Length: 335m
Logistics: Up to 2 guests can join for an ascent of Mothers Day Buttress. June through September is the best time to plan an ascent. Some previous rock climbing experience required.
